An American Favorite…
The Henderson Lima is one of the most famous heirloom varieties of the lima bean and is widely popular with home gardeners. In fact, Mr. Henderson himself claimed in 1888 it was a “vegetable wonder” that “should be grown in every garden.”
The Henderson Lima is a bush variety with a dwarf growth habit. Produces robust and healthy plants that are quite naturally disease resistant. You can grow lots of pods in a minimal amount of space. Produces well even in adverse growing conditions like minimal rain and high temperatures. Sow directly after all threat of frost has passed.
Good harvests with early yields. Pick pods regularly (every other day to every 2 days) for maximum pod production. Produces until first frost.
Tender and tasty beans with a creamy, buttery texture. Excellent for canning, freezing, or drying.
