Nice pleasant flavor, never bitter. A great cut and come again variety.
A garden standard since 1946. Becoming extremely hard to find. Broad and frilly green leaves grow especially well in the spring, but will grow well even in to the hottest days of summer. The best flavored of all the Grand Rapids types and as the name implies, one of the slowest of all varieties to go to seed. Nice pleasant flavor, never bitter. A great cut and come again variety.
